The Massive Health Benefits of Grounding

Grounding (also known as Earthing) is the process of reconnecting the human body to the earth’s surface by getting your bare feet (or any part of your body for that matter), directly on the ground. The concept of grounding is becoming more and more popular due to the circumstances of our modern day existence, which for the most part keeps us separated from the earth.

I have been practicing grounding for a while now, but it has been over the last week that I have felt the real benefit of being connected to the earth’s energy.

With the powerful eclipse and new moon which occurred on September 1st, I have encountered sudden, and unexpected endings arise which have been entirely out of my control. Having no choice but to watch the unraveling, sometimes in complete disbelief and sometimes with absolute trust in the Universal plan. During this time, it has been vital to remain grounded, connected and in my body. The natural instinct to leave our body during times of trauma, shock or distress can become so overpowering, that we need to call ourselves back in. Grounding is an incredibly easy and nourishing way to do this.

Not only do we receive the emotional benefits of feeling connected to nature through grounding, but research is also showing massive health benefits due to the earth being a natural and abundant source of electrons and antioxidants which are essential for bodies optimal functioning. By exposing our feet (or any part of the body) to the earth’s surface, electrons are conducted into our body, bringing it to the same electrical frequency as the earth. Some of the recorded health benefits from the research include:

• Improved sleeping patterns, decreased stress and feeling more relaxed
• An optimal immune system function
• Decrease inflammation and pain in the body
• Enhanced digestion and circulation
• Improvements in autoimmune disorders such as chronic fatigue

If that isn’t enough to convince you of the benefits of grounding, I invite you to imagine for a moment the considerable amount of electromagnetic pollution you are being exposed to every day through technology. It is everywhere! The simple practice of grounding significantly reduces the health consequences of being exposed to these potentially disruptive fields or ‘dirty electricity.’

But don’t take my word for it, try it yourself. I have a challenge for you; for the next seven days get your bare feet directly onto the earth’s surface for a minimum of five minutes. If you don’t have a backyard, then take the time to go to a local park during your lunch break or after work. To enhance this practice even more, take some conscious breaths while grounding, allowing yourself to be fully present to your body and surroundings. Just for five minutes let go of the to-do lists, the worries, the regrets, your tyrannical boss, the person who pushed in front of you at the supermarket. Let it all go for five minutes and be present – this alone has impressive benefits.

If you dare to take on this challenge, I would love to hear your feedback on the benefits you received, emotionally and physically.
